Apr 22th, 2003, IRCG 4 Gamma 11 released, including PHP 4.2.x/4.3.x compatibility and caching DNS resolver.

Apr 19th, 2003, added IRCG 4 Status Module resource.

Apr 8th, 2003, a IRCG 4 technical preview is now publically available. Update: A small glitch has been corrected in IRCG 4b8 for Linux 2.2 compatibility.

Oct 14th, 2002, IRCG 2.8 has been released to the public. Features some portability improvements for Cygwin environments, and extends the default channel name length. There is no urgent need to upgrade. IRCG is so reliable that the last bug fix was over a year ago.

Jan 4th, 2002, more than 1000 concurrent users (950 on average all the time) have frequented the heise-online chat on the topic "DSL-flatrates". This marks a new record for the amount of real users driven by IRCG 3. The Enterprise version of IRCG is now also available to you.

Dec 10th, 2001, the slides from the International PHP Conference are available now (German only). The examples section (see below) has been improved. IRCG now also supports HTML-only chats and thus it is possible to provide chats to users of set-top boxes/game-consoles where limited HTML/HTTP functionality is available.

Oct 2nd, 2001, new binaries have been released for Linux/x86, Linux/Alpha, FreeBSD/x86, FreeBSD/Alpha, Solaris/Sparc, OSF1/Alpha.

Sep 14th, 2001, IRCG 2.7 was released. A few features added and a fatal bug fixed (segfault on empty QUIT message). Please note that you need a PHP version which was not released before August 15th to avoid the segfault.

Aug 31st, 2001, an expert-chat on the topic "Microsoft vs. OpenSource" attracted up to 850 concurrent users to the heise-online chat, powered by IRCG 3.0. CPU usage was on average lower than 5% on a 2xP933.

Aug 17th, 2001, the new enterprise-version IRCG 3.0 sustained its first real-life test in an expert chat produced by heise-online with up to 450 concurrent users.

Aug 1st, 2001, IRCG 2.6 was released. This is a maintenance version. Upgrading is recommened.

Apr 29th, 2001, IRCG 2.4 was released. Upgrading is strongly recommened for high-load installations. Also published the results of a load test.

Apr 24th 2001, IRCG 2.3 was released.

Apr 5th 2001, IRCG 2.2 was released.

Mar 18th 2001, made the script framework found in the binary packages separately available.

Mar 10th 2001, some binary packages have been released for Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris, together with the source for IRCG 2.0.

Mar 8th 2001, IRCG-2.0b2 has been released. Handling of channel modes was added.

Mar 7th 2001, IRCG-2.0b1 has been released. This version is required for compatibility with the latest PHP CVS. This release has undergone a stress test, which produced more than 195GB of content. Further details can be found on the statistics page.

Mar 3rd 2001, IRCG-1.96 has been released.

Feb 24th 2001, IRCG-1.94 has been released. This version improves portability.

Feb 21th 2001, IRCG-1.93 has been released. Due to an API addition, you will need this version to work with the latest PHP CVS.

Feb 19th 2001, IRCG-1.92 has been released. This release has undergone multiple load tests whereby it produced about 4GB of content. No segfaults or memory leaks were observed. Please use a PHP CVS snapshot with this release, it is incompatible with PHP 4.0.4pl1.

Feb 18th 2001, IRCG-1.91 has been released. I've also updated the PHP scripts which now feature improved browser compatibility (due to an apparent bug in Netscape 6, the framework does not support it yet). They also make use of the new IRCG features like CTCP support.

Feb 17th 2001, some internal changes have been applied to IRCG. If you are using today's PHP CVS, please give IRCG 1.90 a try (note that it is incompatible with older versions). This version breaks the source compatibility so that future enhancements won't break the API anymore.

Feb 16th 2001, I've added an improved message scanner to the PHP IRCG part. It handles mIRC colors which are translated to proper HTML font tags. URLs are also recognized and automatically transformed to anchor tags. As before, if a user sends special characters (like < and >), IRCG will convert them to their respective SGML counterpart.
